Google Related Searches & Google Autocomplete Search: How does it work?
Wondering how to show up on Google Related Searches or on Google Autocomplete Search?
Greetings, this is Joanna Vaiou and in this post, I am sharing with you some best practices that I have used for 12 years now, that have played an important role in my personal brand/business name to appear both in Google Search “Autocomplete” and Google Search “Related Searches” feature.
There is one thing that I love most when it comes to these types of placements.
They tend to stick around for long so every brand that is being displayed there, gets all this attention from potential prospects who are interested in what the brand offers, straight from the SERPs, before they even visit the brand’s website.
How neat is that, tell me.

- My content creation and distribution strategies include always combinations of “my main target keywords + my brand name”: I use combinations of these consistently when I am creating content and when I am building links to my web properties. This has resulted in Google creating a “high relevancy” connection between my specialization (what I do and my title) resulting in offering me these premium results.
- I offer my expert quotes in my industry, being interviewed online, and giving workshops wherever possible. I do what I possibly can in terms of offline and online PR and networking with relevant journalists and digital publications where my name shows along with my target keywords. Count that as an extra “relevancy + authority” signal in Google’s eyes. You know that when it comes to SEO, “Relevancy + Authority” is THE Bomb.
- It does not hurt if you start typing search terms in Google (when not logged) from several different locations, devices, and Ips, that combine your own target keywords next to your brand name in a positive manner. This can also help Google to make positive algorithmic connections between your brand name and what you do and battle or protect you from any negative notions you may have around your brand.
What is Google Autocomplete Feature in Google Search?
Google Search Engine’s Autocomplete feature is specifically designed to make it easier (faster) to complete search terms that you start typing in the search box in order to learn more information.
What happens when you begin to type your keywords is that before you click the enter button to see what are the top organic results, a series of predictions/phrases appear in a vertical options menu, below the search box for you to click on.
For more information on the topic by the Source itself, check this article from Google on how Google’s Autocomplete feature works. A great guide about Google Autocomplete feature I found on Search Engine Journal from Sam Hollingsworth.

Next, you can see a win I have for my target keyword “SEO Greece” for which my personal name in Greek appears in the predictions vertical menu, as the 1st in the row. It is a great win for my personal brand and business as being displayed before users’ eyes even before they hit the “enter/search” button, is not something little.
It is pretty amazing if you ask me.
What are Related Searches on Google?
Related searches” appear at the bottom of Google search results after a user completes a search in Google’s search box. Related searches are generated automatically, based on a complicated algorithm to determine terms related to the search users type in the search box.
An example of Google Related Searches
If you go to Google.gr and you type “SEO Consultant Greece” and hit search, you will see at the bottom these related searches below. What does this mean?
Google has linked my Personal/Brand Name to what I do as an SEO Consultant from Greece.
Often, I use this text next to my name throughout my content creation and link-building processes.
As a result, when someone wants to find a Greek SEO Consultant from Google, Google offers my name as a related search. Another great win for my personal brand.
